Instruction of Carbon Fiber Painting
Every Arrow Shark 2020 Carbon Fiber and Kevlar hull is finished with shining surface polish, which means that you can use it right out of the box without an additional paint job! In fact, because carbon fiber is already aesthetically pleasing in and of itself and quite expensive, as a visual feature, we suggest that you do not paint over its uniquely woven appearance!
However, everyone's tastes are different, therefore if you choose to paint it, make sure you do it correctly. Painting carbon fiber is unlike painting anything else, since the carbon fiber tends to absorb paint incredibly quickly. We use a clear coat on every hull's surface, meaning that if you plan on painting your hull, you need to first sand off this coating. Start from 240#-400# sanding paper, using the wet sanding method to avoid causing damage to the surface. After completely removing the coating, you'll need to apply a minimum of three to five coats of primer. Allow the primer to dry for two to three days in preparation for painting. If there is any unevenness once you are finished, you can buff the surface to smooth out any imperfections.
